Lenses

The following are some of the lenses available through the Hoyt Eye Care Center Optical Shop

Varilux™ (Progressive lenses) by Essilor

As our eyes age, reading fine print on menus and books can become increasingly difficult. If you need bifocals, progressive lenses can be an appealing alternative to help you see clearly. Progressive lenses, or no-line bifocals, provide a gradual change in prescription, allowing you to see at multiple focal distances with ease. Vision can be further enhanced with the use of WAVE technology to widen the usable progressive lens visual field and provide the sharpest vision for those with high prescriptions. Varilux offers many progressive lens styles and are at the forefront of all new technology in the progressive lens field. Speak with the optician for the progressive lens style that will best meet your visual needs.

IOT Digital Lens Designs

IOT lenses are digitally surfaced progressive lenses in the IOT family of lenses using Smart Add Technology. They are specifically designed to improve eye comfort when viewing electronic devices, such as smartphones, tablets, and computers. The intermediate and near regions of the Smart Add lens have been optimized for agile focus with less effort, resulting in more relaxed vision, less eye strain, and a more ergonomic posture for the lens wearer.

IOT also makes a free form basic progressive lens design, called Surface Power. This is an entry-level progressive which is still digitally surfaced. This allows for variable corridor lengths and more comfortable viewing in all areas.

Camber Technology:

The Camber Lens Technology combines complex curves on both surfaces of the lens to provide excellent vision correction. This unique continually changing surface curvature allows for expanded reading zones with improved peripheral vision.

EYEZEN:

Eyezen, our newest enhanced single vision lens helps reduce eye strain caused by close viewing of devices like cell phones and tablets. It also utilizes the Smart Blue Filter™ feature, which reduces exposure to Harmful Blue Light. With four unique designs, patients of any age can benefit from Eyezen™+ enhanced single vision lenses.

Crizal (Anti-reflective lenses)

Anti-reflective coatings help reduce the reflection of light in your eyeglasses. New anti-reflective technologies reduce lens glare and provide the clearest vision during everyday activities, like night driving and computer use. Anti-reflective lenses can also enhance your appearance, by eliminating lens reflections for a more natural look. In addition, today’s anti-reflective lenses also resist smudges, scratches, dust, and fingerprints – making it easier to keep your lenses clean. There are several Crizal anti-reflective coatings to choose from, speak with the optician for the best choice to fit your lifestyle.

Crizal Prevencia: (Anti-reflective blue light protection)

Crizal Prevencia is a blue blocking anti-reflective coating specifically designed to reflect off 20% of potentially harmful blue-violet light (HEV, or High Energy Visible blue light), while allowing blue-turquoise light (beneficial light) to pass through. Blue-violet light may be a risk factor for the onset of Age-Related Macular Degeneration (AMD), a leading cause of severe vision loss and blindness in adults over the age of 60.

Transitions™ (Photochromic lenses)

Clear, dark, or in between- that’s the right time for Transition lenses. They do more than ordinary clear lenses because Transition lenses adjust automatically to changing light. When you are inside or at night, Transition lenses are clear. But when you are in sunlight, you will see an important and convenient difference: Transition lenses turn as dark as sunglasses. They automatically adjust to block glare, improve contrast, and to help reduce eye strain and fatigue while also providing UV protection for your eyes. The newest transition lenses now provide better darkening while driving. Transitions® Signature® GEN 8™ is a new frontier of performance. Faster to darken and faster to clear, it is the most responsive lens yet. Transition Vantage will change from an almost clear lens inside to a polarized lens outdoors. It is a great option for someone who does not want to carry two sets of eyewear, but wants sun glare protection outdoors.

Polarized lenses

Sun glare can be a big problem, especially while driving. Today’s polarized lenses eliminate glare, improving contrast and visibility while reducing squinting and eye strain. Polarized lenses are also great for snow or water sports providing maximum UV protection and enhancing contrast.

Visual fatigue solutions™ by Essilor

Essilor Computer™ lenses make an excellent second pair of glasses to complement your primary pair of progressive lenses. These progressive lenses provide a larger and centrally located intermediate area for comfortable computer viewing, along with a small area at the top of the lens for distance viewing, and an additional area at the bottom of the lens for reading. This can provide a more comfortable visual experience when using a computer by reducing vision fatigue, headaches, and neck pain.
