Howard Hoyt, M.D. is a board certified ophthalmologist specializing in adult comprehensive ophthalmology care including routine eye examinations, prescription of glasses, medical care of various eye diseases including glaucoma, diabetic eye disease, and macular degeneration, and laser treatment of retinal tears and posterior capsule opacity.
A native of Ohio, Dr. Hoyt has been a practicing eye physician and surgeon since 1986, in Rockport since 1990, and establishing Hoyt Eye Care Center in 2007. Dr. Hoyt earned his undergraduate degree from Lehigh University in Pennsylvania, graduating with a B.S. in biochemistry. He then earned his medical degree at The Ohio State University, continuing on to also complete his residency in ophthalmology at The Ohio State University. He joined a multi-specialty medical clinic near Seattle, WA, serving as the staff ophthalmologist for 4 years, prior to moving to Maine. Dr. Hoyt is certified by the American Board of Ophthalmology.
Dr. Hoyt is a Past-President of the Maine Society of Eye Physicians and Surgeons, and is a member of the American Academy of Ophthalmology, the American Society of Cataract and Refractive Surgeons, and the New England Ophthalmology Society.
